[00:00:00] You are listening to that'll preach. This is Brian and I just want to give a brief update on this podcast

[00:00:06] We're not going away, but we are gonna be changing a little bit of the frequency of our posting

[00:00:11] we want to elevate quality over quantity and

[00:00:15] For the past few years we've been posting every single week

[00:00:18] And it's been a lot of fun

[00:00:20] But it also is a lot of work and we don't want the quality of the podcast to decrease as the quantity

[00:00:28] Increases so what we want to do is we're actually going to move our posting schedule to every other week

[00:00:33] So we're gonna have two

[00:00:34] Podcast episodes a month. Maybe we'll squeeze in an extra third one if we you know have the extra energy or the time to do that

[00:00:42] But both Paul and I we've got full-time jobs. I'm passing full-time Paul is full-time professor

[00:00:47] So there's a lot on our plate

[00:00:49] And we just didn't want the quality of the podcast to go down by trying to force an every week posting situation

[00:00:56] So from now on we're gonna be doing it every other week and hopefully this will be at least

[00:01:00] Maintaining the quality and hopefully improving the quality of our podcasts

[00:01:04] I also want to make more time that me and Paul can actually get on and talk about different books

[00:01:09] We're reading or talk about different

[00:01:11] philosophical theological ethical issues that we're interested in I think you know Paul's a busy guy

[00:01:17] I'm a busy guy

[00:01:18] Sometimes it's hard to coordinate since we're no longer living in the same location as we did a few years ago

[00:01:25] But I want to make a concerted effort towards that and I think lowering the frequency of our posting is gonna allow for us to spend more time

[00:01:33] working through

[00:01:34] podcasts together and hopefully that will result in a better product for you guys a better listening experience

[00:01:42] But definitely want to get the both of us on together and even interviewing people together as well

[00:01:47] But I'm just so grateful for all the people who've listened in

[00:01:51] You know Paul and I started this podcast over COVID because we were bored

[00:01:56] But we also were reading a bunch of cool things and we wanted to talk about it and figure why not just press record and see what happens

[00:02:02] And that we also wanted to bless our church in a time that was really difficult

[00:02:06] you know during the pandemic and hopefully give people something to think about as they're holed up in their homes or

[00:02:13] Socially distancing or whatever was going on with all of that and over time it morphed into something more

[00:02:19] We found that people really resonated with the questions that we were asking and the discussions we were having

[00:02:23] We started to incorporate interviews

[00:02:25] This is kind of a selfish endeavor for me

[00:02:28] If you look at some of the interviews that have happened on our show

[00:02:31] A lot of them are just questions that I have or topics that I'm interested in that

[00:02:36] I just want to talk to a smart person about someone way smarter than me and

[00:02:39] It's a learning experience for me

[00:02:41] So if you look through the archive of our content those interviews you can kind of trace

[00:02:46] What I've been spending my time reading or what I've been interested in over the past few months or the past few years

[00:02:53] but it's also been a way for me to

[00:02:56] Create sort of an archive

[00:02:58] of

[00:02:59] resources and

[00:03:00] What I mean by that is there are times when I'm talking to somebody maybe somebody has a

[00:03:04] Theological question and I'm like man. I talked to a guy about this. I talked to a scholar about this

[00:03:09] He gave me an answer. I can't fully articulate it

[00:03:11] I wish you were just there in the conversation with me that I had with him where these questions were answered

[00:03:17] Well, this is a way to create a database of that

[00:03:20] Basically to archive these conversations

[00:03:22] I have so that I can pass it on to somebody they have a question about baptism

[00:03:25] They have a question about scripture a question about a philosophical or ethical issue

[00:03:30] I can say well

[00:03:30] I've actually talked to somebody about this and you can join in on that conversation by listening to this podcast

[00:03:36] But I hope that my selfish endeavor of trying to get my questions answered

[00:03:41] Can be a way that other people can get their questions answered or at least gain a little bit more insight nuance and

[00:03:48] clarity on the particular issues of the Christian faith and how it relates to culture and ethics and

[00:03:54] Just life in general

[00:03:55] so I

[00:03:56] appreciate all of you coming along with me and Paul on this ride and we want to keep creating good quality content for you and

[00:04:05] It is a really

[00:04:07] Fun thing that we get to do and we don't take it for granted and we don't thank you guys for granted for listening in and being

[00:04:13] subscribers to this podcast

[00:04:15] Couple things that we would love for you to do you want to support us you can support us on patreon

[00:04:19] You can also check out our website battle preach.io

[00:04:22] That was something that we launched

[00:04:23] We didn't give it a ton of publicity

[00:04:25] But if you want to find the whole archive of our interviews you can find it there and also leave a youtube channel

[00:04:31] We started incorporating video a couple interviews back

[00:04:33] And this is just a way to reach a broader audience so you can find or that'll preach podcast youtube channel

[00:04:39] and you can see my face and the face of the people that I'm interviewing and

[00:04:44] Over time I'm going to try to convert some of the other podcasts. We've had into youtube videos

[00:04:50] But for now, it's another medium that we are trying to

[00:04:54] Enter into with youtube so if you want to subscribe to our youtube channel that be much appreciated

[00:05:00] I want to give you guys a little preview as some of the podcast interviews we have coming up

[00:05:03] We've got Matthew Lee Anderson coming on he's going to talk about

[00:05:07] Gossip and whether or not it is morally permissible in some circumstances. There's a really lively conversation

[00:05:13] And I've been a big fan of the mere fidelity podcast for a while

[00:05:17] It was great to have Matthew on the show Paul is with us as well

[00:05:20] And I think it'll be a fun interview to listen in on we also have an interview with Michael Lynch from the Davin Institute

[00:05:28] I've had him on before we talked about limited atonement and that was a great conversation

[00:05:34] He's always a great conversation partner and we're going to talk about Protestantism

[00:05:38] specifically the reformers and

[00:05:41] Modernity there's a lot of narratives about how the reformers

[00:05:44] Ruin everything and or at least created conditions in which everything was ruined by bringing about

[00:05:51] Religious freedom and rampant individualism and all those types of things

[00:05:54] I think Michael Lynch is a good job of debunking a lot of the embellished and hyperbolic ways in which

[00:06:00] That narrative can be propagated. We've also got a podcast with Dr. Alex Fogelman on the patristics

[00:06:08] He's a patristic scholar. This has been an area of interest for me

[00:06:11] And he offers a lot of really cool insights, especially about catechesis

[00:06:16] how the early church looked at spiritual and moral formation and

[00:06:20] Ways that we can learn from the church followers, but also ways that we can view them critically and understand them in their own right

[00:06:26] So that's just a small sampling of what's coming ahead and we're excited about it

[00:06:31] Thank you guys for tuning in appreciate you guys and we will see you next week and then two Tuesdays after that
